We have a report of yet another electric car catching on fire this week. Don’t get me wrong, I think electric cars are cool and all, but I don’t think I’ll be riding in one anytime soon if this trend of the batteries exploding continues.
Here are the details of the accident. A lady goes to a charging station and plugs in her Volkswagen ID.3. She leaves for a while, then comes back, unplugs her car, and hops inside. Moments later, she notices smoke coming from the car and immediately evacuates her and her child to a safe distance. She called the fire department, but the fire consumed the car before they arrived, completely destroying the ID.3 and damaging the Nissan Leaf parked behind it. Volkswagen has yet to comment on this accident.
