The TOP 5 Best and Most Expensive Restomods (Modified Classic Cars)

First on our list is EXPEDITION MOTOR Company’s MERCEDES-BENZ 250GD WOLF. The company works with and restores only one vehicle: the Mercedes-Benz G-Wagen. They have extremely specialized knowledge of the car, and can customize each build to exactly the buyer’s specifications. Expedition invests over 1,000 hours into each build, taking everything apart and creating each masterpiece from the ground up. At $120,000 and up, it is the cheapest restomod on this list.

Second is the DAVID BROWN AUTOMOTIVE CLASSIC MINI OSELLI EDITION.

David Brown Automotive offers several custom Minis, with the Oselli Edition being one of the most performance oriented. Handbuilt in England, each of the Minis are tuned for maximum user engagement and speed. To achieve this, the builders also gave the Mini both upgraded brakes and suspension, including AP Racing, Bilstein dampers, and lowering springs. On the power side, the microcar gets a sports exhaust and a limited-slip rear diff. If you’re looking for exclusivity, only 60 of these beauties will ever hit the road. Order yours today for $135,000.

Number three: CLASSIC RECREATIONS SHELBY GT350CR. If you want to restore your first generation Mustang, Classic Recreations is your best bet — they offer everything from a ‘Classic’ model, which gives you ‘new’ 1960s experience, all the way up to a carbon-bodied GT500. GT350CR is a bit less extreme than the GT500, but no less engaging. Under the 1960s bodywork, it holds a 490-545hp Coyote engine, along with a new coilover suspension setup, a six-speed Tremec transmission, and a power steering conversion. The inside has also been refreshed, but the details are as authentic as they come, with Carroll Shelby high back seats, gauges, and floormats being just some of the many available trim options. For $169,000 or more, you can experience it yourself.

Up fourth is the EMORY OUTLAW PORSCHE 356. Rod Emory started working on Porsches in his early childhood years. These days, Emory Motorsports is one of the most famous classic Porsche tuners and restorers in the world, both for its astounding output of over 175 cars as well as its incredible attention to detail. The shop does completely custom builds based on whatever the customer desires, allowing for virtually limitless customization in open-top and coupe versions. The builds usually take over a year to go from sketch to the street and Outlaws, one of the company’s offerings, undergo a full restoration, receiving modified modern 911 suspension and an in-house four-cylinder engine. The prices start at $175,000 for anyone who wants one.

Number five is the E.C.D. LAND ROVER SERIES IIA. One of the many bespoke shops who build restomod Land Rovers, E.C.D. Automotive has made their name known with quality builds and crazy prices. Based in Kissimmee, Florida, the operation has built its entire brand around vintage Defenders and Range Rovers. This Series IIA is an ideal option for anyone who enjoys classic style with modern conveniences. Restored to factory 1960s specifications and fitted with a host of aftermarket upgrades, this Rover can take you wherever you want to go, whether that be the supermarket or the countryside. E.C.D. leaves a lot of the decision-making up to the customer, meaning the buyer has a variety of engine options, ranging from old diesel V8s or a modern Chevrolet crate engine . Inside, the shop’s builds balance their originality with modern amenities, with classic wooden craftsmanship on display for the dash, and a hidden eight-speaker audio system and backup camera system making the cabin a modern masterpiece. At $180,000 and up, this classic Land Rover is pricier than a brand new Range Rover by quite a large margin.
