The Worst Way To Spend $12,000

There are plenty of things you can buy for 12 grand, like a new car or even a down payment on a house. But this custom 2003 GMC Yukon XL 1500 is possibly the worst way to spend it. And watch till the end to see another crazy convertible car.

The SUV is fitted with a 5.3-liter V8 and rear wheel drive. With almost 140,000 miles on the clock, it’s been broken-in thoroughly.

According to the seller, it has a clean title, it still runs and drives great, and it even comes with a new battery and a set of all-terrain tires.

However, the good news stops there. Somewhere along the line, the owner decided to chop the top off the Yukon and fit a tube frame so that you can fit a removable soft-top, similar to a safari vehicle.

The concept is cool and it sure will bring loads of attention wherever you drive it, but from a practicality standpoint, this was possibly the worst thing you could have done to the vehicle.

Anytime the truck gets dirty, you’re going to have to hand-wash it due to the fact that the safari-style roof will most definitely not hold up in any car wash.

Also, it’s top speed has likely been limited because the fabric roof doesn’t provide much in the aerodynamics department, so interstates and highways are most definitely out of the question.

For anyone who is still watching, here’s your bonus. What if you wanted a two-seater convertible, but you needed a truck for working purposes. Well, here’s your solution.

This very special 2003 Ram 1500 has been listed for $7,500 on Facebook Marketplace and it might be an even worse purchase than the convertible SUV.

The roof has been completely chopped off, with no sign of a fabric covering or fixed roof for when it rains. The interior has been mostly stripped and fitted with a $2,500 sound system. Oh, and don’t think you’ll be getting heating or air conditioning, as that has also been taken out.

On the outside, the previous owner has fitted wider body panels on the rear, along with 20 inch wheels and an air suspension kit.

Overall, buying this truck might be a bit better than flushing your money down the toilet, but not by much.
