We’ve all seen people hogging the left lane on the highway. However, drivers on a ten-lane road in Canada were understandably surprised when the driver wasn’t a Prius, but an airplane.
A few days ago, 407 ETR Traffic Alerts, a news program that has multiple CCTV cameras on public highways, posted on their Twitter page that a plane had landed on Toronto’s highway 407 on Wednesday.
The plane had to land on the stretch of highway shortly after taking off from an airport in Markham, Ontario. The cause of the landing was, according to Ontario Provincial Police Sgt. Kerry Schmidt, engine failure.
Schmidt said, “Certainly a surprise for motorists on the ground and obviously a very stressful experience for the pilots in the air as they’re coming down with no other option, but again, they did a great job.”
Fortunately, nobody was injured in the emergency landing, including the pilot and the flying instructor.
